A circle of women gathered at the Women’s Information Center in Syracuse Feb. 2 to collectively celebrate the life, and mark the recent death, of Mary Daly. This profoundly influential feminist thinker and activist died Jan. 3. Daly had served on the Gage Foundation’s National Advisory Committee for several years. Those at her memorial shared their stories, remembrances, questions, and reflections on her rich and contested contributions to feminist cultures. The gathering offered a welcoming space for all to re-member and re-invent the particular magic of Daly’s extraordinary life.
Supporters who were unable to attend sent thoughts about Daly to be included in our online tribute. Additional contributions are welcome. Email them to foundation@MatildaJoslynGage.org.
