The historic Gage Home is located at 210 E. Genesee Street,
Fayetteville, NY 13066. It is on the corner of East Genesee Street (NYS Route 5) and Walnut
Street. It is a white, two-story, Greek Revival with four white pillars. There is a
blue and yellow state historical marker on the corner.
The Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation office is
located around the corner from the Gage Home at 109 Walnut St., Fayetteville, NY 13066.
Turn on
Walnut and come down one-half block. Office is on the left side of the
street with a white porch.

From the Thruway
Take 481 South. On 481, exit at Route 5 East/Fayetteville. After you go
past Wegman’s on your left, you will come to a V, which is a large
intersection with a light. Don’t turn left, but stay to the left of the V,
remaining on Route 5 through the village of Fayetteville, passing two golf
courses on either side and a mall on your left. After you go over a bridge,
you will come up a hill. The first street on your right is Warren St. The Gage
House is on the second street on your right at the corner of Walnut St.
From the North Down 81
Take 481 South and exit at Route 5 East/Fayetteville. After you go past

From the South Up 81

From Dewitt/Syracuse
Take Route 5/East Genesee St. to the east. After you go past Wegman’s on

From Chittenango
Take Route 5 west to the village of Fayetteville. After you go through the
intersection of Route 257 with Friendly’s on your right, start looking for a
red brick church on the left side with a clock in its tower. This is the
United Church of Fayetteville. The next street after the United Church is
Walnut Street and the Gage House is on the corner.
From Cazenovia
Go to Manlius on Route 92. Stay on Route 92 through the village until the
last major intersection. This is a V. The Manlius Fire Dept./Stickley entrance
will be on your left and a car dealership on your right. Stay in the right
lane and you will be on Route 257 going towards Fayetteville. You will go past
Wellwood Middle School and Beard Park on your left and Fayetteville Cemetery
on your right. A half-mile down from Wellwood will be a double intersection
for Salt Springs Road and then East Genesee St. At the first light, go
straight and immediately get into the left turn lane. At the second light,
turn left onto Route 5/East Genesee St. You will go past the Fayetteville Fire
Dept. and head down the hill. Look for a red brick church on the left side
with a clock in its tower. This is the United Church of Fayetteville. The next
street after the United Church is Walnut Street and the Gage House is on the
corner.
From Minoa
Take Schepps Corner Road to 290 to 257, heading toward the village of
Fayetteville. When you come to the intersection of 257 and Route 5, the Fire
Dept. will be on the right and Friendly’s on the left. Turn right onto Route 5
(East Genesee St.). As you head down the hill, look for a red brick church on
the left side with a clock in its tower. This is the United Church of
Fayetteville. The next street after the United Church is Walnut Street and the
Gage House is on the corner. |
