We were honored to have Olivia Cousins as our guest at the Gage Foundation Jan. 20-22. Owner and steward of the John Mercer Langston House, an historic site located in Oberlin, Ohio. She visted to gather ideas for restoring the home as an active historic home / museum / center such as we’re creating in the Gage Home. The Langston House carries great historical weight in regard to the struggles of African Americans and their allies against the scourge of slavery in the U.S. It has been recognized as a place where significant meetings and work on freedom activities occurred. It is also one of the few properties of its kind that is owned by an African American.
