The Gage Foundation celebrated the anniversary of Matilda Joslyn Gage’s 184th birthday with a special presentation of “Waking Matilda” March 24 at May Memorial in Syracuse. Nationally acclaimed actress Mimi Kennedy starred in this benefit performance of her one-woman show about Gage. A reception with assorted homemade cakes followed the play.

Kennedy performed a new version of her work-in-progress, which she is developing for a fully staged production. ‘

Kennedy is best known for her role as “the hippie mom” on the hit ABC television show “Dharma & Greg.” The award-winning performer and Rochester, N.Y., native began her career sharing the stage with legendary comedian Sid Caesar and most recently starred opposite James Gandolfini in the critically acclaimed 2009 BBC film “In the Loop.”
