Pope Joan Book Discussions

3 Tuesday Sessions
March 22, March 29, April 5
6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
At the Gage Center (in the Gage office building at 109 Walnut St., Fayetteville, N.Y.)

Pope Joan, the international bestseller by Syracuse resident Donna Woolfolk Cross, brings the Dark Ages to life and shares the dramatic story of a woman whose courage makes her a heroine for every age.  She is the legend that will not die–the woman who disguised herself as a man and sat for two years on the papal throne.

On Saturday, April 2, the Palace Theater will open its doors for the Red Carpet premiere of the film version of Pope Joan. That show is now sold out, and a matinee has been added for Sunday, April 3. Get ready for a deeper enjoyment of the movie by joining a book discussion at the Gage Center.

Facilitators are Gage Center Asst. Dir. Susan Goodier and Connie Caldwell.

Susan will guide the conversation. Connie, who conducts meditation classes for the Gage Center, will open and close each session with a brief guided meditation.

While these reading group sessions are free, donations of $7 for each session are gratefully accepted.

March 22: Introduction and Gender Role Reversal
March 29: Internal Conflicts Over Religion and Spirituality
April 5: After-movie chat and wrap-up

Participants are welcome to attend one or all of the “stand-alone” sessions. Refreshments will be served. Sessions are free, but donations of $7 are gratefully accepted.
