Receives Organizational Building Grant This grant, from Heritage New
York, will support the Foundation in the planning and implementation of a major
capital campaign aimed at raising funds to rehabilitate the historic Gage Home
and reopen it as a house museum and destination for cultural tourism in Central
New York. |

Kim Christensen, UC Berkeley grad. student, will be returning to the Gage Home
to complete preliminary archaeological excavations started in summer '05.

Gage Foundation Presents The Wonderful Weekend of Oz! - Many
events are planned to celebrate Matilda Joslyn Gage and the 150th anniversary of
the birth of Gage’s son-in-law, L. Frank Baum. The events benefit the Gage
Foundation, which is currently restoring the home of Matilda Joslyn Gage, a
Fayetteville resident for over 40 years. |

MGM’s The Wizard of Oz
Plays The Palace! - When it was first released in 1939, the
soon-to-be-classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/Judy Garland Wizard of Oz played
locally at The Palace Theater, 2384 James Street in Syracuse. Now the film
returns to this newly-renovated venue in an extraordinary, one-time-only "Ozzy"
night at the movies on Sun., Oct. 8 at 7:00 PM during

Oz Seminar New York
Council for the Humanities Grant - The Gage Foundation receives a grant
from the New York Council for the Humanities. The grant, with a partial match
from the Onondaga County Public Library, will enable the presentation of the
"The Spectrum of Oz: A Seminar" on Sat. Oct. 7 from 10 AM - Noon at the
Onondaga County Central Library during

Environmental Protection Fund Grant - Governor Pataki announced that the
Gage Foundation received one of 11 Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) grants
awarded in the state, a $290,000 grant which will allow The Gage Foundation to
expand the scope of the Gage Home restoration. |

Library of Feminism - Scholar in resident Lesley Lammers and library
committee chair Kuki Haines, with additional volunteer assistance, started work
on the new Matilda Joslyn Gage Library of Feminism this summer. The Library is
located at the Gage Foundation’s new building at 109 Walnut St. in Fayetteville,
New York. |

RESTORATION UPDATE -
Restoration of the historic Gage Home will begin in August 2006. Although
the Gage Home will be closed during restoration, the Foundation will be
offering interpretation of the restoration and archeological dig in
progress, as well as
walking tours of
Gage sites in historic Fayetteville, New York.

The Restoration Begins
The historic Gage Home at 210 East Genesee St. will be closing April 29, 2006
for phase one of the restoration. First floor contents will move to the
new facility at 109 Walnut Street, also home of the new Library of Feminism.
An Historic Structure Report that will guide restoration is being prepared. |

Fort Drum Team to Help Unearth Story of Forgotten Abolitionist and Suffrage
Leader
Legislative Gazette, Albany, NY - For 108 years, an almost forgotten women’s rights pioneer has rested
peacefully in the Fayetteville Cemetery, but a team of researchers and
scientists from Fort Drum are lending their expertise to help restore
Matilda Joslyn Gage to her rightful place alongside Elizabeth Cady Stanton
and Susan B. Anthony. |

Drum researchers and scientists that used ground-penetrating radar and other
remote sensing equipment to locate 19th century outbuildings. |
