Originally presented to the 122nd New York Infantry Regiment on August 25, 1862, the flag was entirely hand-stitched by the women of Fayetteville, New York.

The flag survived numerous historic engagements—including the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg—before being retired and returned to Gage’s care.

The centerpiece of this new exhibit was sreated by Gage Homeschool History students.

This special series of data-driven quilts by artist Rachel Ivy Clarke shows the impact of women’s work in community, history, and the political field. These quilts tell a story both in the data that they bring to life and the work to create each visual representation. Three new works commissioned specifically for this exhibit are included, as well as a visitor participation piece.
