F-M 4th Graders visit Gage

Fayetteville- Manlius 4th greaders didn’t just visit the Matilda Joslyn Gage Center, but participated in a fully planned walking tour of Fayettevile, which acts as the culminating activity of their year in social studies. The 4th grade curriculum focuses on New York State history, so Fayetteville is a great place to see that history still effecting our daily lives.

Students visit the Fayetteville Free Library, the Stickley Furniture Museum, the Fayetteville Village Hall, and the Gage Center. As they walk on the tour students also get the chance to see local items of historical note, including: the Ledyard Dyke, Mill Street, Limestone Plaza, and Grover Cleveland’s boyhood home. The tour ends with a unique experience at the Fayetteville Cemetery, where the students use ipads to view interractive videos about the people burried there.
