Wear Your Story is a participatory workshop that introduces participants to Greek weaving as a storytelling tradition, using the T-shirt as a contemporary textile canvas. The workshop begins with an introduction to ancient Greek mythological figures associated with storytelling through weaving, alongside the practices of contemporary women loom weavers from Naxos. Through these examples, participants explore how motifs, patterns, grids, and color operate as a visual language—encoding cultural, social, and personal meaning across time.
Participants then engage in a hands-on design process, creating their own T-shirt using Greek-inspired motifs through block printing, stamps, and fabric markers. Making becomes an interpretive practice, encouraging participants to translate narrative, identity, and symbolism into wearable form.
The workshop fosters cultural literacy, creative expression, and an understanding of textiles as material culture. Designed to be adaptable across age groups and institutional contexts, Wear Your Story culminates in a personalized, wearable T-shirt that participants can take with them—transforming learning into a tangible, embodied experience.
